In your garden,

May your flowers sing,

And birdsongs bloom with all the rainbow colours.

In your home,

May your friends gather,

Your candles glow,

And your child always leave a little piece of their heart to come home to.

​

On your mountain,

May the wild flowers blow free,

The trails welcome you like an old friend,

And your cabin warm you on your return.

​

In your mind,

May there be lightness

And full depth

And above all,

Love - of people and of the world -

Because you need it -

And so does the world.

And most of all -

In your soul,

I wish you some glimmers of understanding

Of what this is all about.

And

if understanding is illusive - as it must be - 

I wish you the peace that comes with acceptance -

And the joy that comes from living fully - and only - in each moment

Feeling the feel of each tear

as it leaves your heart

and trickles down your face

and salts your tongue.

Feeling the feel of each chuckle,

as it works its way

from your belly to your throat,

becoming a fully blown laugh.

And then

the echo of your laugh

around the room

as you pass it on.

What more can I wish for you?

In this time of your life,

As you reap what you have so generously sown

As you travel those paths

that you have marked out for yourself

sometimes following well-worn trails...

and bushwacking when necessary,

stopping to get your breath when you must,

or to watch the eagle,

or the wind that carries her,

or the tides that go out - and come in,

or the view that goes into forever,

or the tree that fell

though no one was there to hear it.
